Speech and Language Therapist
Job Description
Focus on diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders in elderly residents. You will provide specialised therapy to help residents improve their speech, language, and swallowing abilities, contributing to their overall health and quality of life.
- Assess and treat residents with speech, language, and swallowing difficulties.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy programs to help residents improve their ability to communicate and eat safely.
- Work with residents to enhance their speech clarity, cognitive communication, and swallowing techniques.
- Educate care staff and family members on communication strategies and techniques to support residents.
- Monitor resident progress and make adjustments to therapy as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop a holistic care plan.
Person Specification
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and relevant professional registration.
- Previous experience in geriatrics or similar settings preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
- Patience and empathy in working with individuals with speech and swallowing difficulties.
