Nursing Assistant
Job Description
As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting nursing and medical staff in delivering care to patients in our care home. This role involves providing personal care to patients, assisting with daily living tasks, and helping patients recover and maintain their physical and emotional well-being.
- Assist nurses and doctors with patient care, ensuring that patients are comfortable and supported at all times.
- Provide personal care to patients, including help with bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
- Monitor patients’ conditions by checking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure) and reporting any changes.
- Assist with mobilizing patients and helping them with movement, including transfers from bed to wheelchair, or helping with walking.
- Support patients with basic medical tasks such as taking medication (under supervision) and changing dressings.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by ensuring their rooms are tidy and equipped with necessary supplies.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, listening to patient concerns and offering reassurance when necessary.
- Assist in preparing patients for medical examinations, procedures, or tests.
Person Specification
- Previous experience in a healthcare or care environment is highly desirable but not required.
- A compassionate and caring attitude, with a strong desire to improve the well-being of others.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work under supervision as well as independently.
- Physical stamina to assist with mobility and daily tasks.
- A willingness to undertake additional training and development, including gaining healthcare certifications.
