Job Description

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the configuration, stable upkeep, daily operation, and ironclad security of A & I Care Home’s enterprise-wide computing infrastructure. This technical role ensures that our core servers, database environments, cloud networks, and business-critical software systems are fully optimised and available around the clock to support vital care home operations.Key responsibilities include:

  • Infrastructure & Cloud Administration: Provision, manage, and optimise our enterprise cloud architecture (primarily Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, and SharePoint environments) and on-premises server environments.
  • Network & Database Management: Maintain corporate network reliability (LAN/WAN/VPN profiles) across all regional care facilities. Administer relational SQL databases, optimizing query paths and monitoring database integrity.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Formulate, configure, and routinely test automated backup schedules and robust disaster-recovery failovers to prevent operational data loss during system failures or cyber incidents.
  • Tier-3 Escalation Support: Serve as the ultimate technical escalation point for complex infrastructure faults that cannot be resolved by the front-line IT helpdesk team.

Person Specification

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience working as a Systems Administrator or Network Engineer in an enterprise environment supporting users.
  • Qualifications: Must hold relevant industry certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+, or Cisco CCNA.
  • Technical Skills: Deep experience with virtualized environments (Hyper-V / VMware).
  • Behavioural Traits: Rigorous analytical thinker, calm and methodical problem-solver during critical system outages, and a strong commitment to keeping documentation up to date.
